1. About these terms
These terms cover this website and every service you book with PsyAus Health Pty Ltd (ABN 61 702 794 563). In these terms, "PsyAus Health", "we" and "us" mean that company. By using the website or booking a service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or book.
Our services are for adults aged 18 and over. We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page, with its last updated date, is the one that applies.
2. Our services
PsyAus Health offers four services by video or phone to adults anywhere in Australia: general mental health (therapy with a psychologist, or counselling), adult ADHD assessment, adult autism assessment and ADHD coaching. You can have the ADHD and autism assessments separately, or together as one combined assessment. Every session is a live conversation with a practitioner.
No service can promise a particular outcome or finding. Each person's situation is different. At the end of each session, you and your practitioner agree your next step. That step may be more sessions, a referral to another service or no further care.
ADHD coaching
ADHD coaching helps you set goals and build practical routines. It is a separate service from therapy. An ADHD coach does not diagnose or treat any health condition.
Telehealth limitations
Telehealth does not suit every mental health concern. Your practitioner may suggest an in-person service, a GP review or a referral. If telehealth is not the right fit for you, we will explain why and help you find a service that is.
Medication
Psychologists, counsellors and ADHD coaches do not prescribe medication. If medication may be relevant, your practitioner can suggest you talk with your GP or a psychiatrist. That doctor decides if any treatment is right for you.
3. Not a crisis service
PsyAus Health is not a crisis or emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 000. For crisis support at any hour, call Lifeline on 13 11 14. We do not monitor messages and enquiries around the clock.
4. Booking and the online intake
When you send our online booking form, you are asking for an appointment. We aim to reply within one business day. Your booking is confirmed once we agree a time and your fee with you in writing.
The booking form asks a few questions so we can match your request to the right practitioner. The form does not diagnose any condition. It does not decide your care or replace a session with a practitioner.
Please give accurate details when you book. We need your correct name and contact details. They help us give safe care and meet our legal and billing duties.
5. Fees and payment
We confirm your fee in writing before your booking is final. Fees are in Australian dollars and include GST where it applies. Our current fees are on the fees page. At the date above, they are:
- Short session with a general psychologist, 20 minutes: $95. A Medicare rebate may apply.
- Standard session with a general psychologist, 50 minutes: $210. A Medicare rebate may apply.
- Counselling session, 50 minutes: $140. There is no Medicare rebate for any counselling sessions.
- ADHD coaching session, 50 minutes: $150. There is no Medicare rebate for any coaching.
- Adult ADHD assessment: $1,190 total over several sessions. No Medicare rebate applies to it.
- Adult autism assessment: $2,090 total over several sessions. No Medicare rebate applies to it.
- Combined ADHD and autism assessment: $2,490 total over several sessions. No Medicare rebate applies to it.
We tell you when payment is due at the time we confirm your booking.
Medicare rebates
Medicare rebates may apply to eligible sessions with a psychologist. To claim, you need a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your usual GP or MyMedicare practice. You can claim up to 10 individual sessions each calendar year. You can book without a plan, but you cannot claim a rebate without one. The Government sets these rules and amounts, and they can change. We cannot promise a rebate. See our Medicare page or Services Australia for details.
Afterpay
You can pay by card or with Afterpay. Afterpay splits a payment into four instalments. Afterpay is a separate provider, and its own approval process, terms and fees apply.
Private health insurance
Some private health funds may pay a benefit for psychology sessions, depending on your cover. Please check with your fund before your appointment.
6. Cancellations and rescheduling
You can cancel or move an appointment free of charge with at least 24 hours' notice. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or do not attend, the full session fee applies.
We may waive the fee in some cases, such as an emergency. If we need to cancel or move your appointment, we will tell you as early as we can. There is no charge to you.
Medicare does not pay a rebate on cancellation or non-attendance fees.
7. Telehealth sessions
- Join from a private, quiet place using a device with a steady internet or phone connection.
- Your practitioner may confirm who you are and where you are, in case of an emergency.
- Sessions are not recorded without your express consent. Please ask before you record a session yourself.
- If the call drops, your practitioner tries to reconnect. If that fails, we set another time.
8. Confidentiality and its limits
What you discuss with your practitioner is confidential. We handle it in line with our Privacy Policy. We share information with others, such as your GP, only with your consent, unless the law requires or allows it.
The limits of confidentiality include times when:
- there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else.
- the law says we must make a child protection or mandatory report.
- a practitioner must notify Ahpra under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law.
- a court order, subpoena or other law requires us to share information.
Where it is safe and appropriate, your practitioner will talk with you before any information is shared.
9. Assessment reports
An adult ADHD, autism or combined assessment ends with a written report and a next-step plan. The report is prepared for you. We share it with others, such as your GP, only with your consent. It reflects your psychologist's professional opinion at the time of the assessment. It does not guarantee any finding. We cannot promise another doctor or service will accept it.
10. Feedback and complaints
We welcome feedback. If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please contact us first on 0450 374 670 or at [email protected]. We aim to reply within one business day and will work with you to resolve it.
Our psychologists are registered with Ahpra. Counsellors and ADHD coaches are not registered with Ahpra. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact:
- the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra), for concerns about a psychologist, at ahpra.gov.au
- your state or territory health complaints body, about any practitioner, as listed on ahpra.gov.au
- the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC), for any privacy concerns, at oaic.gov.au
